WORKSHOP® Welcomes Artists & Makers for Art-A-Whirl 2023

WORKSHOP® is once again joining the fun at Art-A-Whirl. For 2023, we are welcoming back familiar faces and introducing some new artists and makers for their Art-A-Whirl debut, including several folks from our very own team!

Art-A-Whirl is the largest open studio tour in the country, which happens annually throughout Northeast Minneapolis the third weekend of May.1 

Our studio, located directly across from Art-A-Whirl headquarters and neighboring  Indeed, Centro and  Earl Giles at 1300 Quincy St NE, will be open to the public to come browse and shop from the 14+ artists we have joining us. We are also partnering with our neighbors at Q.arma Studios to host 20 musicians on our outdoor shared stage, playing live music all weekend. 

Curioso Coffee will be onsite Saturday and Sunday serving locally roasted craft coffee drinks made to order. 

The WORKSHOP office will be open during all of Art-A-Whirl, so be sure to mark the dates and hours on your calendar:

  • Friday May 19th 5pm-10pm
  • Saturday May 20th 12pm-8pm
  • Sunday May 21st 12pm-5pm

Ashley Pernitz @sew.many.adventures
Ashley is a fiber artist who enjoys creating art through sewing, quilting and upcycling old clothing. Join her on her many sewing adventures.

The Bookish Baker @bookishbakermpls
The Bookish Baker is a home bakery located in New Hope, MN. Specializing in dairy-free bakes and reading recommendations, they are always looking to satisfy your sweet tooth cravings and bibliophilic needs.

Dana Kingery - @dana.kingery.draws

Dana Kingery is a designer and illustrator living in Saint Paul. She specializes in light-hearted, bright, and textured artwork. You can often find her exploring local parks or at home with her cat, June.

Dana Koehler @danakristeen
Dana Koehler holds an MFA from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, and has worked as a designer for creative institutions, independent art galleries and nonprofits throughout the United States since 2015.

Devan Bridson @devanbridson
Devan is an emerging artist with a focus on natural subjects. You'll find lots of vibrant colors and vibrant characters in her work. She loves exploring all mediums, but focuses on acrylic paint, inks and digital work.

Freya J. (she/her) is an artist and designer exploring form and utility.

Genessis Lopez @brown_bruja
Genessis spent some of her childhood in Mexico, growing with the plants and flowers in her grandmother’s garden. Her artwork reflects the colors, feelings and emotions that she carries with her from those beautiful memories.

Ivan Farr
Ivan works with mixed media to explore the psyche and heal his disabilities. His work is inspired by textile patterns from Ukraine, Ivan’s birthplace.

Anju Kataria travels globally to meet and work with passionate craftspeople and artists. For over thirty years her independent gallery Khazana, has been a hub for connecting artists with the wider Twin Cities community.

Nate Killam @killamnate

Nate Killam is a multi-disciplinary graphic designer creating thoughtfully considered brand expressions. His personal artwork is inspired by cycling culture and the great outdoors with a minimalist style.

Shannon Kourajian @shannonkourajian
Shannon’s ceramic work consists of hand-built forms. Such as mugs, cups, planters, vases, coasters and more! She decorates her work with bright and colorful patterns that will brighten anyone's home and day.

Studio OkOk @studio_okok
Linda Bachman of Studio OKOK has done art her whole life. She loves nature and portraying it through painting on canvas or clay. Linda appreciates having her own studio and being able to do what she loves everyday.

Studio on Fire @studioonfire
Studio On Fire is a premium printing and packaging company. They have been printing fine art prints for artists using impression-based methods like letterpress, foil stamping, embossing and more for over twenty years.

Tiana Buchanan @tianaabuchanan

Tiana Buchanan is an illustrator based in Minneapolis, as a designer she prides herself in bringing her feminine, colorful, tongue-in-cheek point of view to everything she creates.

Viska @viska_USA
Viska is a small batch backpack company in South Minneapolis. Backpacks and other carryable items are designed, waxed, cut, and completely constructed by Ashley Duke. She is committed to honor the environment with the materials chosen.
