The Android and McLaren Formula 1 racing team partnership began with a global event at Google HQ. The experience represented an opportunity to tangibly bring the partnership to life for attendees —who may not immediately understand what the two brands bring to one another.

Our experience design used the show car as a visual centerpiece to ensure Formula 1 racing was the overall focus. A photobooth allowed attendees to create an animated GIF that could be shared via social media as an event takeaway.

More than anything, the experience needed to highlight how Android and McLaren work together. Visitors assessed their inner race car driver with the power of 5G by testing their reaction time.

Players raced against themselves and competed with other visitors via digital leaderboard. Hundreds of people competed, but only 20 topped the charts.
